About this event
During a recent visit, the Governor of Aruba received the first copy of the Children’s Book Week gift for the 34th Children’s Book Festival.
This year’s gift is a picture book titled “Rashi Curashi durft!” (“Rashi Curashi Dares!”), written by Aruban author Daylan Krozendijk, a drama teacher at the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA), and illustrated by Dutch illustrator Petra Heezen. Krozendijk accompanied Mrs. Astrid Britten during the presentation to the Governor.
The 2026 Children’s Book Festival follows the theme “Spotlight On!” (“Spot aan!”), translated into Papiamento as “Luz, Camara, Accion!” (“Lights, Camera, Action!”). The theme celebrates creativity, storytelling, and the performing arts.
The 34th Children’s Book Festival will officially open on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the National Library on George Madurostraat in Oranjestad, Aruba.
