About this place

Centro di Bario Noord (CBN) is a community center serving Noord and surrounding neighborhoods in Aruba. In 2025, the center marked its 55th anniversary, reflecting more than five decades of community activities, education and cultural programming.

Community centers in Aruba were established to strengthen neighborhood participation and provide activities for residents. Programs can include after-school guidance, activities for older adults, national-day celebrations, informational sessions and community-oriented events.

At Centro di Bario Noord, current and recurring programming includes educational and cultural activities for different age groups. Government information identifies cuatro lessons, theater lessons, folk-dance instruction, storytelling for young children and Papiamento lessons for adults among CBN’s programs. The center also organizes lectures and participates in cultural celebrations throughout the year.

Annual activities associated with CBN include Aruba’s National Anthem and Flag celebration, Dera Gay, Noord Carnival and Halloween activities. Several community organizations also use the facility, including baseball, volleyball, domino and youth groups. Some of these groups have maintained a presence at the center for decades.

Centro di Bario Noord therefore functions primarily as a neighborhood facility for community development, education, culture and social participation. Specific event schedules, program availability and any applicable participation fees should be verified for each activity rather than assumed as permanent features.
