About this place

Kulture Café Aruba is a café located inside the historic Nicolaas Store in San Nicolas. Nick Gordon and Kedesha opened the business in 2019, establishing a café in the center of the San Nicolas art district. The Nicolaas Store itself dates to around 1940 and was restored in 2016 after standing unused for more than two decades.

The café serves coffee, breakfast, salads, wraps, vegan options, fresh juices and ice cream. Aruba Tourism Authority has highlighted menu items including salmon avocado toast, homemade lemonade and fresh juice combinations. Several menu items draw on family recipes connected with the Nicolaas Store and its former owners.

One documented specialty is the Yuchi, named in honor of Gabriel “Yuchi” Nicolaas. The drink combines espresso with local Ponche Crema, whipped cream and roasted coffee beans. This connection between the café and the Nicolaas family reflects the history of the building, which formerly operated as a store selling books, newspapers, instruments and gifts.

Kulture Café also accommodates private and organized gatherings. Aruba Tourism Authority documents private brunches, baby showers, birthday celebrations, company meetings and cocktail parties, as well as food and wine-pairing events developed with participating chefs.

The café shares the restored Nicolaas Store building at Bernard van de Veen Zeppenfeldstraat 27 with the San Nicolas Community Museum. The museum and café should be treated as separate entities in Aruba Discovery rather than presenting Kulture Café as a cultural center or plaza.
